Atari is turning to a crowdfunding-style investment model to help finance a gaming-themed hotel in Phoenix, Arizona, as the video game pioneer seeks to revive its brand through an ambitious hospitality project.
The company has launched a Regulation A fundraising campaign inviting fans and small investors to contribute as little as $500 toward the development of what it describes as a neon-lit, esports-ready “gaming hotel.” The project, being developed by Intersection Development, has raised about $14 million so far toward a total budget of $124 million, according to people involved in the initiative.

Planned features include high-tech guest rooms, creator-focused suites, bars and restaurants, retail spaces, a sportsbook, and a concert and esports venue capable of hosting thousands of visitors. Atari has billed the project as the first immersive gaming hotel of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. “Atari Hotels was born from the idea that hospitality could be as interactive as gaming itself,” said Intersection partner Jordan Taylor.
The Phoenix site, which spans close to an acre, has already been acquired, but Atari is still seeking an additional $35 million to $40 million in near-term funding. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with the hotel slated to open in late 2028, provided sufficient capital is secured.

Atari, which helped launch the home gaming industry in the 1970s, has spent several years revising its hotel plans after earlier concepts stalled. While the company is betting that community ownership and gaming-focused experiences will attract investors, it faces a significant financing challenge that will likely require tens of thousands of contributors or a smaller number of high-value backers to bridge the remaining gap.
