The early access release of Slay the Spire 2 has attracted strong player interest on Steam, reaching more than 175,000 concurrent users within hours of its launch, according to data from SteamDB.

The sequel was first revealed in April 2024 by developer Mega Crit, which initially planned to release the game in early access during 2025. The studio later delayed the launch to 2026, citing the need for additional development time to refine gameplay systems and polish the overall experience.

Early player statistics suggest the sequel has already exceeded the performance of its predecessor, Slay the Spire. SteamDB data shows the original title reached a peak of 57,025 concurrent players in recent months, meaning the newly released sequel surpassed that level by a wide margin shortly after launch.

Initial user feedback also appears positive. While the game has only gathered several hundred reviews so far, around 93% of roughly 487 Steam reviews are marked as positive, indicating favorable early impressions among players.

The current version is part of Steam’s early access program, which allows players to purchase and play a game while it is still under active development. The developers expect the early access phase to last between one and two years as additional content, gameplay modes, cards and other features are gradually introduced.

During this period, player feedback will be used to refine game mechanics, address technical issues and expand the overall content ahead of the title’s full release.
