Peripheral manufacturer 8BitDo is preparing to launch what it describes as its first wireless controller for Xbox consoles, expanding its Xbox-certified lineup beyond current wired-only offerings. The upcoming device will utilize a 2.4GHz wireless adapter for connectivity, according to a teaser shared on the company’s official X account.
While 8BitDo has previously released several Xbox-licensed controllers, including the Lite SE and Arcade Stick, those models have limited wireless support. The new controller will mark the company’s first fully featured wireless alternative to Microsoft’s official Xbox Wireless Controller and Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series.

The teaser video shared by 8BitDo reveals minimal details but hints at a design inspired by the company’s existing Ultimate 2 or Pro 3 controllers. Notably, it appears to include a charging dock and an illuminated Xbox button, which may allow the controller to power on the console — a feature not explicitly confirmed.
“The upcoming controller will be announced in a few days and will connect to Xbox consoles via a 2.4GHz wireless adapter,” the company stated on social media.
As with many 8BitDo products, broader compatibility with non-Xbox devices is possible, though unconfirmed at this stage. The full reveal is scheduled for August 4, with availability details yet to be clarified.
The move positions 8BitDo to compete more directly in the wireless controller segment, offering a potentially more affordable or customizable option for Xbox gamers.
