Asus has officially released the Vivobook 18, a large-screen laptop now available in Germany with prices starting at €899. The device is powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 260 processor and features an expansive 18.4-inch IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. While the notebook offers solid performance and a modern design, its weight and size make it less portable compared to smaller alternatives.

    Specifications and Performance

The Asus Vivobook 18 comes equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 260, an eight-core Zen 4 processor capable of reaching boost clock speeds of up to 5.1GHz. The chipset, which includes integrated AMD Radeon 780M graphics, has a TDP of 35 watts. Standard configurations include 16GB of RAM and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD, though a version with 1TB of storage is available for an additional €100.

The 18.4-inch display has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, offering a 16:10 aspect ratio, a brightness level of 300 nits, and a 144Hz refresh rate. While this provides an immersive visual experience, the device’s size—measuring 0.8 inches thick and weighing 5.7 lbs—makes it less ideal for frequent travel.

    Connectivity and Features

Despite its large frame, the Vivobook 18 has a somewhat limited selection of ports, including two USB-C 3.2, two USB-A 3.2, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The USB-C ports support DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery but are limited to a bandwidth of 5 Gbit/s.

Additional features include a spacious trackpad that supports multiple gesture controls, including brightness adjustment by swiping along the right edge. The device also comes with an infrared camera for Windows Hello facial recognition and a privacy cover for the webcam.

The Asus Vivobook 18 is expected to roll out to other markets soon, providing users with a large-screen laptop that balances power with an expansive display, though its weight and limited port selection may be trade-offs for some buyers.
