Nintendo has scheduled its next Direct Partner Showcase for July 31 at 9:00 AM EST (6:00 AM PST), but the spotlight will remain on third-party titles rather than its highly anticipated in-house projects, such as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The company confirmed the 25-minute broadcast will highlight upcoming releases from development partners for its Switch 2 console.

Nintendo has so far focused heavily on internally developed titles like Mario Kart World and upgraded Zelda entries following the Switch 2 launch. However, a more limited showing of third-party games prompted speculation about a gap in the platform’s broader library. Industry watchers noted that developers had been waiting for a formal platform update before committing to Switch 2 projects.

Join us for a #NintendoDirect Partner Showcase tomorrow, July 31, at 6am PT! Tune in for roughly 25 minutes of information on upcoming #NintendoSwitch2 and #NintendoSwitch games from our publishing partners.

A contributing factor has been the slow distribution of development kits, which reportedly held back third-party studios from building or porting games. At the 2025 Game Developers Conference, it was revealed that many studios were still lacking essential hardware, hampering production timelines.

The upcoming showcase may signal a change in pace, with publishers such as Capcom and Ubisoft now expected to announce new titles or updates. According to industry analysts, the event could trigger a wave of delayed projects finally reaching Switch 2.

While Metroid Prime 4: Beyond fans continue to wait for further updates, the absence of first-party news may hint at a future, dedicated Nintendo presentation. The game, originally revealed in 2017 and now slated for 2025, remains in development following internal changes and delays. Despite recent reports raising doubts about its timeline, no official update has been provided.
