DICE, the developer behind the Battlefield franchise, is exploring the return of a traditional server browser for Battlefield 6, a feature long-requested by the game’s community and largely absent from its predecessor, Battlefield 2042.

At a recent multiplayer event, the studio confirmed that the server browser is being integrated into the main game menu of Battlefield 6, according to gaming outlet MP1st. The implementation is expected to allow players to select servers based on latency, region, maps, and game modes—an option previously limited to 2042’s Portal mode.

I'm gonna talk about our server browser later today, but first, I wanna understand everyone's reasons for wanting a server browser so I can make sure I explain what we're doing effectively.

What is it about a server browser that's important to you lot?

The current build showcased during the event reportedly did not display the final user interface. However, the inclusion of such functionality could address longstanding concerns over matchmaking and connectivity issues in underserved regions. DICE is also rumored to be planning dedicated servers across global regions, though the plan has yet to be confirmed.

Producer Alexia Christofi addressed the community directly via social media, writing, “I’m gonna talk about our server browser later today, but first, I wanna understand everyone’s reasons for wanting a server browser so I can make sure I explain what we’re doing effectively.”

The move comes as DICE prepares for a staged rollout of Battlefield 6’s Open Beta. Early Access begins August 7–8 for select users, followed by general access from August 9–10 and a second session from August 14–17. The full game is slated for release on October 6.
