The confirmation came via a blog post from Nintendo of Canada, which invited fans to attend the event in Toronto from August 21 to 24. “Fan Expo attendees will be able to play upcoming games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (available later in 2025),” the company stated.

Initially announced at E3 2017, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has undergone a protracted development cycle. After internal dissatisfaction with progress, Nintendo rebooted the project in 2019, shifting development to Retro Studios, the Texas-based developer behind previous entries in the franchise.

The game was recently rated by South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee, noting that it contains “mildly violent expressions” and is suitable for players aged 12 and up. The listing described the title as a “first-person adventure game set on planet Viewros,” where protagonist Samus Aran faces an “unexpected situation” involving the returning character Sylux.

Kensuke Tanabe, the long-time producer of the Metroid Prime series, remains involved. In an earlier interview, Tanabe had expressed interest in crafting a storyline focused on the rivalry between Samus and Sylux. “Personally, I’d like to create a story centring around Sylux and Samus,” he said at the time.

Nintendo has not announced a firm release date or trailer yet, but the hands-on demo at Fan Expo Canada suggests a more substantial reveal may follow in the coming months.
