HTC Corp. has announced the Vive Eagle, a new pair of smart glasses that combine artificial intelligence features with high-quality optics from Zeiss.
The glasses, designed with a partially transparent plastic frame, are initially available as sunglasses and come in red, brown, gray, or black, with optical lens versions expected in the future.
The Vive Eagle includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, four microphones, and integrated speakers, enabling communication, AI-assisted interactions, and multimedia playback.
The glasses can optionally access AI services such as ChatGPT or Google Gemini, allowing users to receive information about objects in their field of view or translate texts in real time. Photos can also be captured via a shutter button or voice commands.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, the glasses support Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. Battery life is rated at three hours for calls, 4.5 hours for video playback, and 36 hours on standby. The device is IP54 certified, providing protection against light rain, and weighs 48.8 grams.
The HTC Vive Eagle will be available in Taiwan at a price of 15,600 TWD (approximately $520), with international release plans yet to be confirmed.
