Two earlier entries in the Resident Evil series — Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero — may be next in line for a modern overhaul, according to claims from a reliable industry insider. Capcom, however, has yet to confirm the projects.

The tip comes from AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, who has previously shared accurate details about the franchise. Writing on X, he suggested both remakes are in active development, with potential release windows in 2027 or 2028. “These two games should be released in 2027 or 2028,” he said, while stressing that nothing has been officially announced.

The next remakes are Resident Evil: Code Veronica & Resident Evil Zero. They should be releasing in 2027/2028, though I'm unclear this second which is coming out first & which second. But that's what I'd say to expect.

If accurate, the news would continue Capcom’s recent pattern of reintroducing its back catalogue to new audiences. Modern remakes have proven commercially and critically successful for the publisher, blending updated visuals, refined controls and enhanced story delivery with the structure of the originals.

Resident Evil Zero, first released in 2002 for the Nintendo GameCube, explores events leading directly into the first game, pairing rookie medic Rebecca Chambers with escaped prisoner Billy Coen in a fight for survival. Code: Veronica, debuting in 2000, follows Claire Redfield’s escape from a remote island prison overrun by bio-engineered monsters, mixing action, exploration and puzzle-solving.

No production details, platforms, or gameplay changes have been revealed. Until Capcom issues an official statement, the possibility of these remakes remains speculative — but for many long-time fans, the idea is a welcome one.
