A new leak has fueled discussion about the direction of DICE’s upcoming Battlefield 6, after images shared on X appeared to show early designs for weapon skins focused on realistic camouflage patterns.
The screenshots, posted on Aug. 25 by Battlefield Wire and reported by Insider Gaming, are said to be from an early stage of development. Unlike the colorful, stylized designs seen in some rival titles, the skins largely emphasize military-style patterns such as forest camouflage and minimalistic variations, with a handful of more artistic options included.

“Instead of bright colors or over-the-top designs, the focus appears to be on military-style skins,” Insider Gaming reported, adding that the approach could help distinguish Battlefield 6 from competitors like Call of Duty, which has recently faced criticism for flashy crossovers and celebrity tie-ins.
Reactions online have been mixed but lean positive. Many players welcomed the grounded approach, with one X user writing: “Finally, weapon skins that don’t look like a toddler’s painting party.” Others, however, dismissed the designs as “boring” or lacking creativity, while some expressed interest in more customization options.
Whether the leaked skins will appear in the final release remains unclear, but the discussion highlights a broader divide in the shooter community over authenticity versus personalization in modern multiplayer games.
