Tesla has introduced a round of updates to its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, including new hardware and upgraded batteries aimed at boosting driving range.
The Model 3 now features a front-facing camera with a washer and integrated heating element, as well as a reintroduced indicator stalk. The stalk had been removed in earlier versions in favor of steering wheel buttons, a change Tesla has acknowledged was not optimal for customers. These features were previously available only on the latest Model Y.
Battery improvements across the Model 3 lineup have raised range estimates. The entry-level rear-wheel drive version now reaches up to 520 km, while the Long Range rear-wheel drive variant extends to 750 km. The all-wheel drive and performance editions also gain incremental improvements, with ranges of 716 km and 571 km respectively. Tesla described the upgrade as an increase in cell density without disclosing capacity details, noting that the Long Range all-wheel drive Model Y has also risen to 629 km, up from 586 km.
The upgrades are now reflected in Tesla’s online configurator, though pricing remains unchanged. The refinements signal the company’s effort to refine its mainstream models while addressing customer feedback on usability.
According to Tesla, the enhancements mark “an improvement in cell density” that supports longer range figures without altering the external design of the vehicles.
