Xiaomi Expected to Skip 16T Line, Move Directly to 17T Series Ahead of MWC 2026

Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to skip its expected 16T lineup and instead advance directly to the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro models, which could debut ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in early 2026. Listings in the GSMA IMEI database appear to indicate model numbers tied to the new devices, suggesting a February 2026 release window.

The company’s decision to bypass the 16T naming aligns with its earlier move to skip the “16” moniker for its flagship smartphones. The database entries — 2602DPT53G and 2602DPT53I for the 17T, and 2602EPTC0G and 2602EPTC0R for the 17T Pro — have been interpreted by XiaomiTime as positioning the devices for an early 2026 launch.

“Listed model numbers on the IMEI database may point to a February 2026 launch date,” the company’s statement noted, implying that Xiaomi is adjusting its release cycle to bring the T-series refresh forward from its typical September or October schedule.

The move could also reflect a broader strategic separation between Xiaomi’s global T-series lineup and the China-exclusive Redmi K Ultra series, which have shown growing differences in design and positioning. The 17T range is expected to continue this trend by differentiating itself further in both hardware and market timing.

According to early reports, the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro are internally codenamed “chargall” and “warhol,” and are expected to run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 and 9500 chipsets powered by Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3. The new devices would enter a competitive mid-range market segment, positioned against rivals such as the OnePlus 15 and HMD Ace 5G.
