Garmin appears to be broadening access to one of its previously subscription-only features, potentially signaling a shift in its Connect+ service strategy. The company’s LiveTrack customization tool, once limited to Connect+ subscribers, is reportedly becoming available to more smartwatch users, including those with inReach connectivity plans.
Introduced in March 2025, the Garmin Connect+ subscription costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 annually and includes a suite of premium tools such as LiveTrack enhancements, coaching guidance, and 3D maps. At launch, the enhanced LiveTrack allowed subscribers to send text notifications to followers and build a personalized profile page for live activity tracking.

According to a report by Garmin Rumors, the LiveTrack interface has recently been redesigned, and the option to personalize a LiveTrack homepage is now accessible to users outside the Connect+ plan. “The ability to personalize a LiveTrack homepage is now available to anyone with a connectivity subscription,” the outlet reported, suggesting that this includes inReach subscribers who no longer need a separate Connect+ plan to use the feature.
The change could benefit owners of recent Garmin models, including the Fenix 8 Pro. However, LiveTrack text notifications remain an exclusive feature for Connect+ subscribers.

Garmin has not commented on whether more Connect+ tools could be made available under other subscription tiers, such as Outdoor Maps+ or inReach. For now, the partial feature expansion may indicate a gradual move toward more flexible subscription offerings across the company’s ecosystem.
