Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of the Galaxy Z TriFold, a three-panel foldable smartphone that expands the company’s portfolio of advanced mobile form factors. The device folds twice to convert from a slim phone into a 10-inch display aimed at productivity and entertainment. “Galaxy Z TriFold solves one of the mobile industry’s longest-standing challenges — delivering the perfect balance between portability, premium performance and productivity all in one device,” said TM Roh, Chief Executive Officer of Samsung’s Device eXperience division.

The company said the new model builds on a decade of research and development in foldable hardware and display engineering. The phone measures 3.9 mm at its thinnest point and runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, supported by a 200-megapixel camera and Samsung’s largest foldable battery to date. The 5,600 mAh three-cell battery system is distributed across the device’s three panels, and 45 W charging is included.

To enable the multi-folding mechanism, Samsung introduced redesigned Armor FlexHinges and reinforced display layers intended to improve structural stability and durability. The exterior is protected by titanium around the hinge and Advanced Armor Aluminum around the frame. Each device undergoes precision scanning and inspection during manufacturing to verify assembly accuracy, the company said.

Samsung highlighted AI-driven productivity features that take advantage of the expanded 10-inch interface, including multi-window layouts for running up to three full-size apps simultaneously. The Galaxy Z TriFold is also the first Samsung phone to support standalone Samsung DeX, allowing users to operate multiple virtual workspaces and add a secondary display for extended use. Creative and search-related AI tools such as Photo Assist, Sketch to Image and Browsing Assist have been tailored for the large screen.

The launch also targets entertainment users with an AMOLED 2X display that supports refresh rates up to 120 Hz and brightness reaching 2,600 nits. The device will first go on sale in South Korea on December 12, 2025, followed by China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE and the United States. Samsung said TriFold buyers will receive a six-month trial of Google AI Pro and a one-time 50 percent discount on display repair costs.
