OpenAI has reached a definitive agreement to acquire machine-learning platform Neptune.ai, the companies said on Thursday, marking a further push to expand the tools that support the development and training of advanced artificial intelligence systems.

Neptune.ai provides infrastructure that allows researchers to track model experiments and monitor training performance in real time — a capability viewed as increasingly essential as AI models grow in scale and complexity. OpenAI said the acquisition will integrate Neptune’s capabilities more deeply into its research stack to improve visibility into model behavior during training.

The partnership builds on an existing relationship between the two organizations. Neptune has collaborated with OpenAI in recent years to enhance tools that compare large numbers of model runs and surface performance issues across training stages. The companies expect the acquisition to increase the speed of experimentation and strengthen decision-making processes throughout model development.

Jakub Pachocki, OpenAI’s Chief Scientist, said the acquisition reflects the company’s goal of improving internal tooling for large-scale AI training and model analysis. The statement from the press release described Neptune as having “built a fast, precise system that allows researchers to analyze complex training workflows,” highlighting its role in advancing experiment-monitoring capabilities.

Neptune founder and CEO Piotr Niedźwiedź welcomed the agreement, stating that joining OpenAI will allow the company to expand the impact of its research-support tools. Neptune was established to streamline the iterative and exploratory nature of machine-learning development and has become known for its focus on real-time experiment tracking.

OpenAI did not disclose financial terms of the acquisition. The companies said the integration process will begin immediately and will focus on enhancing internal research infrastructure rather than offering major near-term changes to product availability for external users.
