OpenAI and Deutsche Telekom announced a new collaboration aimed at expanding the reach of advanced artificial intelligence technologies to millions of users across Europe, according to a statement released on Thursday. The companies said their combined scale and research capabilities would help accelerate the adoption of consumer and enterprise AI services. “Their global reach will combine with OpenAI frontier research to make AI more useful and accessible in everyday life,” the press release said.

Deutsche Telekom serves more than 261 million mobile customers globally, giving the partnership a wide foundation for distributing new digital services. The companies plan to develop multilingual, privacy-focused AI tools designed to simplify communication, learning and daily tasks. These offerings are scheduled to begin rolling out in 2026. OpenAI noted that because “more than 800 million people use ChatGPT every week,” many of the operator’s customers are already familiar with AI-driven products.

The German telecoms group will also introduce ChatGPT Enterprise internally, giving its employees secure access to OpenAI’s advanced systems. The move is expected to support customer service operations, streamline internal processes and speed up product development. The companies said the tools would further assist Deutsche Telekom as it expands the use of automation in network operations.

Deutsche Telekom plans to embed AI more deeply across its infrastructure as it shifts toward autonomous and self-optimising systems. OpenAI said the collaboration would help make AI “more helpful, secure, and accessible across Europe,” supporting both frontline workers and engineering teams.

The partnership adds Deutsche Telekom to a list of major enterprises working with OpenAI, including Accenture, Walmart, Salesforce, PayPal, Intuit, Target, Thermo Fisher, BNY, Morgan Stanley and BBVA. According to the release, more than one million business customers globally use OpenAI tools, which the company described as “the fastest-growing business platform in history.”
