Capcom has rolled out the first of three planned PC-focused performance updates for Monster Hunter Wilds, delivering noticeable gains in stability and playability but leaving some visual inconsistencies unresolved, according to technical analysis.
A review by Digital Foundry published on Dec. 20 found that the free Title Update 4 removed severe stuttering linked to high-resolution texture streaming and lowered GPU performance demand by roughly 8–9% on Medium and High settings when tested on an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 with 8GB of memory.

The analysis noted that texture quality has improved across the board on Medium settings, but results on High settings were mixed. In some areas, textures were reported to load more slowly, appear degraded, or fail to display correctly, even as overall performance became smoother.
Title Update 4 is the first of two cross-platform patches aimed at improving performance in Monster Hunter Wilds and the first of three updates focused specifically on PC optimisation. Capcom has said additional updates are planned through 2026, following earlier efforts to reassure players after launch performance issues.
Despite the remaining visual problems, the update was seen as a meaningful step forward for PC players, particularly those using 8GB graphics cards. The uneven results at higher settings, however, have renewed scrutiny of Capcom’s RE Engine and its ability to scale efficiently for large, open-world games compared with more contained titles in the company’s portfolio.
