ViewSonic has introduced a new portable monitor designed to expand laptop workspaces on the move, unveiling a dual-screen device that can turn a standard notebook into a triple-monitor configuration.
The product, called the VG1457, folds into a form factor similar in size to a 14-inch laptop and weighs about 1.36 kg. When opened, it reveals two 14-inch displays connected by a hinge, allowing users to position the screens either stacked vertically or side by side next to a laptop.

Both displays use IPS technology rather than OLED panels, a decision aimed at keeping costs lower. Each screen features a 16:10 aspect ratio, a 60 Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1,920 by 1,200 pixels. As noted in the original article, the device “likely can’t match the image quality of a dual-OLED solution,” but it is positioned as a more affordable alternative.
The VG1457 includes a built-in kickstand and an orientation sensor that automatically switches between portrait and landscape modes depending on how the screens are positioned. Connectivity is handled through two USB-C ports, one for linking to a laptop and another for external power.

When connected to a charger, the monitor can deliver up to 65 watts of passthrough charging to a laptop. However, the device does not include an internal battery and must draw power from the connected computer if no external power source is available.
ViewSonic has priced the VG1457 Dual 14-inch Portable Monitor at $349.99 in the United States. The company has not yet announced pricing or availability for other markets.
