Huawei has just launched a new device that is said to be able to compete with the Kindle from Amazon. Named MatePad Paper, this e-reader comes with a 10.3-inch screen and has support for a stylus as well as a fingerprint scanner on the power button.
The device uses a USB type-C port which allows fast charging and has a battery life of four weeks. In terms of appearance, MatePad Paper carries a design with a grip like the Kindle Oasis.
The MatePad Paper runs Huawei‘s HarmonyOS operating system, with support for the Huawei Books app which gives access to over 2 million books. There is also support for more than 20 languages and it is accessible to more than 170 countries or regions.

Unlike a typical e-reader, the MatePad Paper looks like a fully functional productivity tool with email, calendar and certain apps available for download in the Huawei App Gallery.
Its stylus support can also convert handwriting. In addition, the device can be connected to a smartphone or PC, and other functions such as voice recorder and video player.

The MatePad with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage has more points than its competitor, the Kindle. However, of course this is priced more expensive. In Europe, the MatePad Paper is priced at Euro 499 or around USD 560.
