MediaTek has just announced the presence of its newest SoC that has a premium AI processing engine, the MediaTek Pentonic 700, so that it can support smart TVs up to 4K 120Hz quality or up to 4K 144Hz for VRR.
This SoC comes with second-generation AI features such as AI-Picture Quality Scene Recognition, AI-Picture Quality and Object Recognition and AI-Super Resolution 2.0 to allow smart TVs to process images that are deeper, detailed, and sharper.
The same SoC also has other key features, such as Dolby Vision IQ with Precision Detail, Dolby Atmos, MEMC, HDR10+ for Gaming and the “4K144 VRR” gaming mode. This SoC also supports relatively new codecs such as VVC, HEVC, AV1, and AVS3.
The new integrated design of the SoC is also said to have better power efficiency while reducing BOM (bill of material) costs, while speeding up time to market. Related brands can also combine this SoC with MediaTek’s Filogic for support for Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, or even Wi-Fi 7 as a super fast wireless connectivity solution for 4K smart TVs. So, this connectivity can also reduce latency for the best streaming and cloud gaming experience.
MediaTek Pentonic 700 is planned to be released commercially in the 4th quarter of 2022.
