Nintendo Switch Online subscribers now over 36 million

Nintendo has recorded an achievement for the number of Online service subscribers they have. This Japanese company reported that there was at least an increase in numbers of up to 4 million customers using the service compared to last year. This achievement was stated in ‘s annual financial report, as quoted from nintendolife.com.

On the same occasion, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa also received questions from journalists regarding what the company will do in the future, especially regarding online services.

Shuntaro replied, “The goal of Switch Online as a service is to help users enjoy playing for a long time, so we expect various initiatives to emerge, including further enhancements to the service’s content.”

Shuntaro’s optimism about the future of online services, one of which comes from Nintendo’s achievement in September 2022, when the number of service subscribers exceeded 36 million. This figure shows an increase of up to 4 million more than last year.

The presence of the Switch Online + Expansion Pack service which started last year is considered capable of providing an additional portion of subscribers thanks to the addition of games from Nintendo 64. The presence of the Expansion Pack also includes other games from Sega Genensi and Mega Drive.

Rows of games such as Mario Party, Plotwings 64, Pokemon Stadium, to shooter games like GoldenEye 007 from Rare are able to encourage more people to join in.

It’s a shame that Nintendo didn’t specify the share of the number of customers who only use the regular service, compared to the expansion service that makes lots of classic titles.
