Battle of Rebels, a sci-fi shooter blending single-player and small-scale multiplayer modes, will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam on August 28, 2025, publisher Funbox Media said on Monday. An Xbox Series X version will follow at a later date, with physical editions planned for Switch and PS5.
Developed by solo creator NYX Digital, the game features both first- and third-person perspectives. The single-player campaign spans five levels, tasking players with clearing infected zones, defeating alien bosses, and shutting down cloning machines that turn civilians into zombies. For online play, the focus shifts to cross-platform 2v2 battles in compact arenas, supported by drivable tanks, controllable drones, and a wide range of weapons.
Funbox Media noted that the title is an award-winning project, citing its victory at the Unreal Florida Game Competition and additional accolades from other Unreal contests. “Award-winning isn’t just boilerplate here,” the publisher said in its announcement. The release also marks Funbox Media’s first foray into publishing an online multiplayer title.
PC system requirements call for an Intel Core i7-4790K or Ryzen 7 1800X with 8 GB RAM and a GTX 1650 or RX 480 graphics card at minimum, while recommended specs step up to an i7-7700 or Ryzen 7 2700X, 16 GB RAM, and a GTX 1060 6 GB, RX 590 8 GB, or Intel Arc A750.
The game’s arrival also follows a previous, now-delisted Steam entry under the same name. Funbox said the upcoming release is the definitive version with updated features and a confirmed launch date. Pre-orders and wishlists are available on official storefronts ahead of release.
