Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD has unveiled its new Super E-Platform 3.0 Evo, featuring a 1,000-volt system capable of delivering charging speeds of up to 1,000 kilowatts. Under ideal conditions, this allows up to 400 kilometers of driving range to be added in just five minutes.

The platform incorporates cutting-edge components including a silicon carbide inverter, a 1,000-volt battery pack, and a “hairpin” motor reaching up to 30,000 rpm. BYD says the architecture enables 0-100 km/h acceleration in under two seconds. “We are pushing the boundaries of EV performance and efficiency,” the company said.

Initial rollout will occur through the Han L sedan, offering up to 800 hp, and the Tang L SUV, which delivers up to 650 hp. Both are positioned in the premium segment to highlight the platform’s capabilities.

To support extreme charging power, BYD developed a 1,000-amp connector with advanced thermal management. The company claims the system maintains reliability while requiring minimal maintenance.

BYD has not confirmed whether the platform will expand internationally. However, as global competition intensifies among high-performance EV makers, including Tesla and Porsche, a broader rollout is considered likely.
