A remake of Resident Evil 5 has not received approval from Capcom, according to a leak, though progress is being reported on another entry in the long-running survival horror franchise.
Well-known industry leaker Dusk Golem said Capcom has not given the green light for development of Resident Evil 5, suggesting that discussions are still ongoing and the project remains on hold.

Meanwhile, the company has been working on Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake since 2022. According to Dusk Golem, “Code Veronica Remake has been in development since 2022, around 3 years of dev now. Code Veronica Remake is ahead of schedule due to a very smooth dev cycle though.”
The remake of Code Veronica had previously been rumored for release between 2027 and 2028, but development progress could bring it to players sooner.
In the meantime, fans of the series can expect Resident Evil Requiem to arrive on Feb. 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X|S. The title will include both first-person and third-person gameplay options, according to early details.
