Casio has opened pre-orders in the United States and the United Kingdom for Moflin, its palm-sized robotic pet that first launched in Japan in 2024. The device, designed to mimic animal-like emotional responses, will ship in October.

Available in gold or silver, Moflin is priced at $429 in the U.S. and £369 in the U.K. The cost is more than triple that of competing robot pets such as Eilik, currently sold for $139.99 on Amazon. U.S. customers are limited to one unit per color, while U.K. buyers appear able to add multiple units despite Casio’s stated purchase restrictions.

The companion robot uses a combination of sensors, including touch, light, and motion detection, to recognize and respond to its owner. Casio said the device can express joy, sadness, and happiness, gradually adapting to user interaction. “It even learns its owner’s preference over time which in turn leads into growth of its own emotional expressions,” the company stated.

Moflin is powered by a 1,200 mAh battery that offers up to five hours of use and can be recharged in about 3.5 hours. Each unit comes with an AC adapter and a small bed. Owners can also use a companion app, MofLife, to track emotional patterns, manage settings, and perform software updates.

Casio said Moflin processes voice and sensor data locally and does not store personally identifiable information. Optional cloud uploads are available through the app. The company expects the launch outside Japan to broaden the reach of what has been described as a successful product domestically.
