Electronic Arts has officially opened pre-orders for Battlefield 6, confirming the game’s release date as October 10. Following months of speculation and leaks, the announcement also includes details for an open beta, set to begin in early August. Unlike prior entries, the base game will not carry a premium $80 price tag, although a higher-priced Phantom Edition is available.
The open beta will be held in two phases. The first session runs from August 9 at 1:00 AM PT through August 11, while the second takes place between August 14 and August 17. Access is unrestricted and does not require a pre-order. Players can pre-load the beta on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X starting August 4. However, last-generation consoles will not be supported.
Minimum system requirements for Battlefield 6 are relatively modest by 2025 standards. The game demands an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, paired with a GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5600 XT, and at least 16 GB of RAM. Recommended specs include a Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X and an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT. The base installation requires 55 GB of SSD storage, with an optional 80 GB package for high-resolution textures.
One requirement has drawn particular attention. EA has mandated Secure Boot to be enabled in the system BIOS—a feature that may hinder access for users on older hardware. According to EA, the decision was made to enhance cheat prevention in online environments. “We believe this is a necessary step to ensure a fair and secure gameplay experience,” the company said in a support article explaining the rationale behind the feature.
Battlefield 6 marks the latest installment in the long-running franchise, with its open beta positioned to test server capacity and core gameplay systems ahead of launch.
