Everything you should know about Casio Pro Trek PRW-61

Not long ago introduced the latest multifunction watch through the Pro Trek series. The is informed by a case, back case and strap made of very environmentally friendly plastic.

Since the mid-1990s, the Pro Trek line designed for outdoor use has become quite popular as Casio has embedded additional features and functions over the years. Now, the company is looking at ways to reduce its carbon footprint by using plastic for its three new PRE-61 variants which are made from renewable organic materials.

According to Casio, this material will be introduced to other watch models. Reporting from New Atlas (21/2), the biomass plastic is also easier to decompose than conventional plastics that are usually used in Casio watches.

The new biomass plastic casing measures 51 mm, giving the PRW-61 resistance to low temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius and water resistance to a depth of 100 meters. Inside there is an analog/digital quartz movement with a battery charging system using solar power. This battery allows the watch to run for six months without light charging.

To maintain timekeeping at the atomic clock level, the PRW-61 uses Casio’s Multi-Band 6 feature which receives a time signal up to six times a day if the watch is within range of a compatible radio transmitting station in Germany, , the United States, or China.

Functions include a digital compass with bidirectional calibration and magnetic declination correction, barometer with graphing function, altimeter with function, digital thermometer, world time with automatic daylight saving time, alarm, stopwatch and LED Super Illuminator. The Casio Pro Trek PRW-61 is priced at 59,400 yen.
