Garmin has rolled out a new beta software update, Version 23.13, for five models in its Forerunner smartwatch series, marking the latest phase in its ongoing refinement of device performance ahead of a general release.
The update is part of Garmin’s Beta Program and applies to the Forerunner 165, 255, 265, 955, and 965. Unlike previous versions that introduced new features, this release is focused entirely on resolving technical issues and improving system stability.
Key fixes in Version 23.13 include correction of GPS distance inaccuracies during walking activities, resolution of workout-related app crashes, and improvements in audio playback stability, particularly for users pairing with Apple AirPods Pro 2. The update also addresses visual inconsistencies in the glance list and rectifies data labeling errors in the Body Battery glance’s Factors page.
All five models receive nine common bug fixes, while the Forerunner 165 benefits from an additional update targeting occasional screen distortions unique to the device. Garmin has so far distributed the update to approximately 20% of devices enrolled in the Beta Program, with no official timeline for full public deployment.
The release follows a series of earlier beta versions, starting with Version 23.09 in March, which included feature enhancements. With Version 23.13, the company shifts its attention toward stability, reflecting a broader strategy of incremental, user-driven improvements.
Speculation surrounding Garmin’s next-generation devices continues, with unconfirmed reports pointing to a forthcoming Forerunner 975. No official details have been released about future additions to the lineup, including the rumored Forerunner 275.
