Garmin Set to Rebrand Contactless Payment Service as Garmin Wallet

Garmin is preparing to rebrand its contactless payment solution, with Garmin Pay expected to be renamed Garmin Wallet in the coming months, according to a recent report. The feature, which is integrated into many of the company’s smartwatches, allows users to pay on the go without carrying a phone or physical wallet.

The report, first published by Garmin Rumors, suggests the rebrand will not immediately affect the way the service functions. Users will still be able to manage payment cards, reset passcodes and access security settings through the Wallet section of their device. The change is described as a shift in name rather than functionality, with no official rollout date disclosed.

While Garmin has not commented on the rebranding or issued any confirmation, the move is fueling speculation that the company may be preparing to expand the scope of the feature. Analysts suggest that Garmin Wallet could eventually evolve beyond payments, potentially allowing customers to store items such as digital tickets, loyalty cards, or even ID credentials directly on their smartwatch. Such a step would bring Garmin’s service more in line with rival offerings like Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, which combine payments with a wider range of digital pass features.

Currently, Garmin Pay is supported across a broad range of the company’s wearables, including the Fenix 8, Instinct 3 and vivoactive 5. The system works with many major banks and card issuers, allowing contactless payments in stores that accept NFC terminals. The possible rebranding to Garmin Wallet, however, could signal the start of a larger refresh of Garmin’s software ecosystem as the company looks to strengthen its position in the competitive smartwatch market.

Until Garmin issues an official announcement, it remains unclear whether the rebrand will be purely cosmetic or the first stage in a more significant upgrade. For now, the service continues to operate as Garmin Pay, providing customers with a secure, phone-free payment option on compatible devices.
