Since its debut in 2017, Sony’s Horizon Zero Dawn has now sold over 20 million copies. An announcement made by one of the company’s top brass also revealed another achievement.
Unmitigated, Horizon Zero Dawn has been played for more than billion hours collectively. Hermen Hulst as Head of PlayStation Studios announced the achievement of Horizon Zero Dawn through his official Twitter account (@hermenhulst).
“Wow, Horizon Zero Dawn has officially sold more than 20 million copies worldwide on PS4 and PC platforms! What a great achievement for @Guerrilla, and a big thank you to the fans,” said Hermen Hulst on Friday (12/02/ 2022).

Horizon Zero Dawn initially debuted on PS4 in February 2017. The game then came to PC in August 2020. Sony has not provided details on sales by platform.
The company revealed sales figures ahead of the release of its newest title, Horizon Forbidden West. Quoted from Gamespot, Guerrilla and Firesprite are currently developing a Horizon VR game called Horizon: Call of the Mountain for PlayStation VR 2.
With sales of 20 million copies, Zero Dawn is in the same sales position as God of War 2018. Prior to this, God of War 2018 had recorded sales of 19.5 million copies.
The game may have crossed over 20 million copies after its successful launch on Steam. Sony Interactive Entertainment is known to be releasing a sequel to Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West on February 18, 2022.

The new title will be available on PS4 and PS5. Through a trailer that circulated in early 2022, Guerrilla Games has revealed the lineup of tribes in the Horizon Forbidden West. The two tribes mentioned earlier are the Carja and the Oseram.
They are a tribe in the border area. Oseram are described as people skilled in fishing, crafting, forging, and more.
Meanwhile the people in Carja are more militant in overseeing the area at the border. On the other hand, there is the Tenakth tribe with aggressive nature and likes to fight.
The trailer shows the existence of Regalla, a rebel troop who can control machines. Aloy will have a mission to fight Regella’s atrocities.
Not only several tribes, developers also provide at least 40 machines in the latest titles. Horizon Forbidden West is expected to follow the success achieved by Horizon Zero Dawn.
