Microsoft has finally started rolling out Android application features for PCs running its new operating system, Windows 11.

However, in the early stages of this release, the new Android application features can be tested by Windows 11 PC users based in the United States (US) only.

Windows 11 PC users in the US begin getting access to a preview of Amazon's app store, Amazon Appstore Preview.

That way, users can find more than 1,000 Android apps and games on the Microsoft Store that are downloaded via the Amazon Appstore Preview.

The Android applications that users can download include Audible, Subway Surfers, Lords Mobile, Khan Academy Kids, Kindle Amazon, The Washington Post, Clash of Kings, Coin Master, Lego Duplo World, Ring, Yahoo, Uber, Spotify, and many more. many others.

Prior to its wider release to Windows 11 users in the US, Microsoft had already tested the beta version of Android app features on Windows 11 in October 2021.

At that time, the number of Android applications that could be installed on Windows 11 was limited to only 50 applications. In addition, this feature was previously only available for Windows 11 users who follow the Windows Insider Program, as compiled from TechCrunch.

With the presence of this new feature, applications and games on Android phones are expected to run more smoothly and integrate on Windows 11.

“This app feels like a part of Windows, integrating naturally with Windows input and windowing experiences, much like the Snap layout,” said Microsoft Chief Product Officer Panos Panay in a statement.

This is the first time Microsoft has brought this capability. Because, so far, Android applications can be run on the Windows operating system with the help of an emulator or dual boot OS.

However, these more than 1,000 Android applications cannot be directly installed through the default Microsoft Store application store, but must be installed through the Amazon Appstore.

This is because Microsoft is partnering with Amazon and Intel (Intel Bridge technology) to be able to deliver Android apps and games natively on Windows 11.

To be able to install Android applications on a Windows 11 PC, here are the guidelines:

  1. Update Microsoft Store. To do this, open the application > click “Library” > click “Get Updates”
  2. Search for the name of the Android app or game that you want to install on Windows 11. For example, the game Subway Surfers
  3. Click “Get from Amazon Appstore”
  4. The user will be redirected to the Amazon Appstore window
  5. Click, “Install” to install Subway Surfers on PC

After the installation process is complete, the Subway Surfers game can be played directly on the user's Windows 11 PC.
