Apple is rumored to be presenting a smartphone with a periscope model camera on the upcoming iPhone 15 device. According to a recent report, Apple seems to be only bringing the periscope lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max model.
The news regarding the camera lens for the new generation of iPhone devices was first revealed by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He said the iPhone series with periscope lenses is predicted to be released in 2023.
“It will come next year, but only for the iPhone 15 Pro Max,” said Ming-Chi Kuo, as quoted by GSMArena (15/7).
This latest report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has refined some information regarding the first periscope lens that Apple will adopt on their smartphones. In other words, this invalidates previous claims that all Pro models in the iPhone 15 series line will use a periscope lens.
Kuo revealed, the regular iPhone 15 Pro model will still use the classic telephoto lens like the previous model. So the company will only release one smartphone model with a periscope lens in the upcoming iPhone 15 series line.
Furthermore, the periscope lens that will be presented by Apple is predicted to have a 6x optical zoom magnification. This camera lens will also be equipped with a 12 MP sensor measuring three inches with an aperture of f / 2.8 and sensor shift stabilization.
Meanwhile, Kuo predicts, Apple will bring this periscope lens to both models of the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro. Currently, the company is reportedly working on an unusual design with two prisms for the iPhone 16 series line. This is evident in the data seen in Apple’s patent filings.
The periscope module basically takes up more space than a regular telephoto lens. Hence, manufacturers tend to order them for their best and biggest phones. So there are not many Android phones that have a camera with a periscope lens on the market.
