Keychron has introduced the Q12 HE, a wireless mechanical keyboard featuring a left-side numeric keypad — a “southpaw” layout aimed at giving right-handed mouse users more desk space. The model blends gaming-grade performance with productivity features, offering tri-mode connectivity via Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz, and wired options.
“It has all the benefits of something like an exploded 75% layout with all the keys you’ll need for serious productivity work,” the company said in product notes. The layout is just shy of full-size, with a slimmed navigation cluster, three programmable keys above the num pad, and a customisable control knob.
The Q12 HE ships with Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Nebula Hall-effect switches, praised for smooth actuation, and uses a gasket mount for a cushioned typing feel. An aluminium plate, CNC aluminium body, and e-coated Shell White or Carbon Black finishes contribute to durability and style.
Other features include south-facing per-key RGB lighting, double-shot PBT keycaps in Keychron’s OSA profile, and QMK firmware with support for advanced settings such as adjustable actuation, rapid trigger, and on-board macros. The polling rate is 1 kHz — less than some gaming rivals — but sufficient for most applications.
