A leaked report has offered an early look at a gaming controller HyperX is expected to unveil at CES 2026, signaling the company’s move into the niche market for leverless arcade controllers designed for Xbox platforms.
The device, reportedly called the HyperX Clutch Tachi, was first detailed by WindowsLatest and appears in leaked images and a product video. The controller features a dedicated Xbox button, indicating it is likely to carry Microsoft’s “Designed for Xbox” certification, and would compete directly with the 8BitDo Arcade Controller for Xbox.

Unlike its rival, the HyperX Clutch Tachi is shown as a wired-only controller. As noted in the original article, “the images, as well as a product video, show that the HyperX Clutch Tachi is a wired controller and not a wireless one.” The controller includes 12 main buttons, matching 8BitDo’s layout, though it lacks the additional programmable buttons offered by its competitor.
Design differences also set the two products apart. The HyperX controller is thicker and uses a removable metallic faceplate, while 8BitDo’s Xbox arcade controller features a glass surface. The leak further suggests HyperX is using TMR sensors, described as a first for an arcade-style controller, alongside customizable RGB lighting managed through the company’s NGENUITY software.

Pricing details have not been disclosed, but the report suggests the wired design could place the HyperX Clutch Tachi below the 8BitDo Arcade Controller for Xbox, which launched at $99.99. HyperX, owned by HP, has not officially confirmed the product or its CES 2026 plans.
