Anbernic has announced the launch date and pricing for its latest handheld gaming console, the RG477M, confirming that the device will go on sale globally from 10:00 UTC on August 2. The new model arrives following weeks of speculation and earlier online leaks.

The RG477M features a CNC-machined metal body, a 120Hz display, and is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity chipset. According to Anbernic, the device will be offered in two configurations: an 8GB RAM model with 128GB of storage priced at $219.99, and a 12GB RAM model with 256GB of storage for $269.99.

“Anbernic has finally confirmed when it will start selling its RG477M gaming handheld and for how much,” the company stated on its official website. The release marks the brand’s first major hardware launch since June, narrowly missing a July release window by two days.

Early buyers will be eligible for a $20 launch discount, valid through August 5 at the same release time. The handheld will be shipped from both Chinese and U.S. warehouses and will be available in two finishes: Chocolate Bronze and Silver Blade.

Positioned as a hybrid of Anbernic’s RG557 and RG Slide models, the RG477M integrates premium design elements with improved hardware performance. Compared to the current RG Slide, priced at $249.99, the RG477M offers an aluminum alloy build and higher refresh-rate screen at a lower starting price.

While Anbernic has not disclosed full performance benchmarks, the inclusion of a Dimensity chipset suggests a focus on enhanced emulation and Android-based gameplay, positioning the RG477M in competition with other compact gaming devices in the sub-$300 range.
