It’s been a few years since Sony launched the PlayStation 5 (PS5) game console. Now, a new rumor reports that the company is gearing up to introduce a slim version of the next generation game console.
Reports originating from The Leak claim that Sony will launch the PS5 Slim console in the third quarter of 2023. However, it is possible that the device may not have the word ‘Slim’ in its name.
Reporting from Gizmochina (8/11), the upcoming game console device is also claimed to be lighter and cooler than the initial version of the PS5. Furthermore, it is said that the Japanese company is working on a solution to eliminate the requirement for a PS5 stand when the system is placed horizontally.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a new PS5 version set to launch in 2023. Previously, there were reports claiming that Sony was working on launching a new PS5 model with a removable disk drive.
The PS5 was launched a few years ago, but potential customers are still facing shortages and haven’t been able to get their hands on the device easily. Even though stock availability has increased, people can’t just walk into a store and buy a PS5 game console, and they have to get it for a lot more than what was suggested.
The development comes after Sony recently increased the price of the PS5 in various regions, including Europe, UK, Japan and more, citing high global inflation rates and declining currency trends as the reason for the increase.
