Nintendo urges buyers not to be tempted by Nintendo Switch OLED at a low price

Offering cheap prices is still common today, but usually doesn't live up to expectations. Like a fake website claiming to be the official retailer of the Nintendo Switch console and selling it cheaply.

To that end, Nintendo has warned gamers about fake websites that are allegedly selling the Switch console at heavily discounted prices.

In its official website, Nintendo said that it had found a malicious website claiming to be the official retailer. He used the company's name and logo, to divert hot-selling items that were significantly discounted, such as the OLED Nintendo Switch model.

“If you buy a product on a fake site, you may be tricked into fraudulently obtaining personal information,” Nintendo said.

Even so, Nintendo did not mention or link to the site in question, but claimed this site was very annoying and detrimental to its customers, so they felt they needed to issue an immediate warning.

Launching TechRadar, Tuesday, January 18, the company also asked the Japanese consumer rights agency, and the cyber crime department of the Japanese police to follow up on the site.

The Switch does continue to be the best-selling console on the market and is moving towards a sales figure of 100 million units. Due to its success, almost no authorized retailer sells its models at a discount.

In fact, the company has often kept consoles in stock for nearly two years, given the semiconductor supply problems that have plagued the industry since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It's no wonder, then, that the hardware market is often run by brokers, mass buyers who raise prices well above retail value, and scammers. As long as supply is limited, there will always be the possibility of the unwanted preying on unsuspecting customers like those fake website scams.

For information, Nintendo is planning to launch new game titles later this month such as Pokemon Legends: Arceus, while heavy games like Bayonetta 3, Splatoon 3, and the long-awaited sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will follow at some point. This year.

With big titles like that on their way, it's likely that hardware sales will remain strong throughout 2022.
