Swedish game developer Iron Gate said its survival title Valheim will arrive on Sony’s PlayStation 5 in 2026, four years after the game first launched on PC and Xbox platforms.
The announcement was made in a new trailer released on YouTube, confirming that the PS5 edition will coincide with the game’s version 1.0 release. “This announcement may delight thousands of gamers around the world who have been waiting for this addictive RPG,” Iron Gate said.
First released in early access in 2021, Valheim has steadily expanded with features including advanced construction mechanics, a farming system, and the addition of a new magic-themed biome. New weapons, armor and creatures have also been introduced to broaden gameplay.
The title continues to attract a dedicated player base, with around 20,000 to 30,000 users logging in daily on average, according to data from SteamDB. Analysts expect the PS5 release to boost its reach further, though competition may be strong as Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch the same year.
While the news has fueled excitement among PlayStation owners, Iron Gate has not provided a specific release date. The studio said more details will follow closer to launch.
