At the Snapdragon Summit 2022 event, Qualcomm officially announced the Bluetooth audio platform which is claimed to be the most advanced at the moment. The platforms in question are Qualcomm S5 Gen 2 and Qualcomm S3 Gen 2 which will support Snapdragon Sound technology.
Optimized to run on the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, the platform offers a wide range of features and requires low power that adds new features to Snapdragon Sound including spatial audio with dynamic head movement tracking, enhanced lossless music streaming, and 48ms latency between phone and earbud kit for barrier-free gaming.
“The latest generation Qualcomm S5 and S3 are designed to deliver the features consumers want, while providing performance using very low power. We were the first to deliver lossless audio over Bluetooth, and since then, we’ve been continuously innovating,” said Vice President and General Manager, Voice, Music & Wearables, Qualcomm Technologies, James Chapman.
The platform also supports third-generation Qualcomm Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation, which enhances the listening experience by adapting to both the user’s ear and the sound of the environment.
Qualcomm Adaptive ANC also includes Qualcomm’s Adaptive Transparency mode for automatic speech detection, supporting seamless transitions from immersive noise canceling features and sounding leak-through when users want to hear sounds around them. For audio device developers, enhanced ANC technology helps solve common problems such as wind noise, vehicles and other situations.
