A Reddit user has dramatically increased the battery life of the Lenovo Legion Go handheld gaming PC through a custom clamshell mod, expanding capacity by nearly 400% while adding extra features.
The mod, posted by user u/MysteriousAlarm897 on r/LegionGo, integrates the Legion Go into a 3D-printed case with a slim keyboard in the bottom half, supplemental battery capacity using 15 18650 Li-ion cells, and additional USB ports. The setup reportedly adds 190 Wh of battery capacity, increasing the device’s total power to just under 240 Wh, compared with the original built-in battery.

The custom enclosure allows easy removal of the Legion Go and access to its original USB Type-C port. It also adds two USB-C and two USB-A ports on the bottom half, while maintaining ventilation and unobstructed access to the device’s buttons. Clips hold the handheld securely in place, and the design keeps cables out of sight.
If the reported power figures are accurate, the mod could allow the Legion Go to reach up to eight hours of gaming on a single charge under heavy load, compared with just over 90 minutes with the stock battery. While no official build instructions were provided, the Reddit post has generated significant interest, with many users requesting details to replicate the setup.
The original Lenovo Legion Go retails for $749.99 in the United States and is noted for its portability and performance for PC gaming on the go. The new mod highlights a growing trend of enthusiasts modifying handheld gaming devices to enhance battery life and functionality.
