Samsung Electronics has unveiled new details regarding the phased rollout of its Android 16-based One UI 8 update, beginning this month with beta access for select flagship models and continuing in September with a broader release that includes stable updates for the Galaxy S25 series.
In a press statement, the South Korean company confirmed that “the new update will begin with the Galaxy S25 series…in September,” though it remains unclear whether this includes the Galaxy S25 Edge or only the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra models launched earlier this year.
The One UI 8 update, which initially debuted last month with the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, Galaxy Z Flip7, and Galaxy Z Fold7, is part of Samsung’s broader strategy to bring Android 16 features to a wider range of its devices.
As of August 10, Samsung will open the One UI 8 Beta Program to last-generation flagships, specifically the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, Galaxy Z Flip6, and Galaxy Z Fold6. This initial beta release will be available only in select regions — India, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
In September, the beta program is expected to expand to include several mid-range and older premium models. According to Samsung, eligible devices for the next phase will include the Galaxy A35, A36, A54, A55, S23, S23 Plus, S23 Ultra, S23 FE, Z Flip5, and Z Fold5. However, the company has yet to confirm which regions will have access to the expanded beta program.
More information, including the registration process and device eligibility, is available through the Samsung Members app.
