Samsung offer new standard four generations of Android upgrades

Samsung has grown a lot lately, especially when it comes to launching software updates for its phones. Now, the South Korean company is stepping forward by promising to offer four generations of updates to the for the latest series phones.

At the Galaxy Unpacked event, confirmed that its Galaxy S22 lineup as well as other new devices will get the latest Android versions for four generations.

Reporting from Gizmochina (10/2), this means that users will get new features and updates for a longer time, compared to the current industry standard. Where, most of the phones that were launched some time ago came with the promise of updating the Android version for two years.

With extended support for software updates, the life of the device will be extended, and keep the device in the hands of the customer for a longer time. This development appears to be in line with Samsung’s “Together for Tommorow” marketing campaign to promote sustainability.

The company has confirmed 12 devices that will get Android operating system updates for at least four years. In addition to the Galaxy S22 lineup and the Galaxy Tab S8 series, devices that made it onto the list include the Galaxy S21 lineup, which was launched last year, as well as the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Fold3, and Galaxy Z Flip3.

Samsung’s commitment is interesting and impressive, considering that itself promised only three years of Android operating system updates for their flagship phones. However, Google promises five years of security updates.
