Consoles are no longer just about video games and exclusivity. As with all products outside of video games though, service is also an attraction that deserves to be considered. For Sony, this is a challenge in itself. After providing three Playstation Plus options at 3 different price levels with the extra advantage of the more expensive version, they have come up with yet another new service that is worth anticipating. The good news? This is a FREE service that any Playstation gamer can join. Say welcome to Playstation Stars!

Playstation Stars is simply a new loyalty service for Playstation gamers that will be available free of charge to all who are interested in signing up. Once registered, you will get various rewards by completing available campaigns or activities, from just playing games, participating in tournaments, winning certain trophies, to being the first gamer to win the Platinum trophy. Playstation Stars members can also get loyalty points which can later be exchanged for many things, including Playstation Wallet options to Playstation Store specific products later.

Not only that, Playstation Stars gamers will also be able to pursue rewards called “Digital Collectibles”. Diverse and coming from many franchises, this will be a digital representation of many things, from character figurines to Sony’s history of innovation from the past. Sony insists that these collectibles are just for fun, quelling fears and rumors that it will relate to concepts like NFT for example.

Sony also confirmed that this program will also slowly but surely evolve and perfect over time. There is no exact date when Playstation Stars will launch in various regions, other than the certainty for a release in 2022.
