Sony Interactive Entertainment’s San Diego Studio may be preparing to bring its long-running baseball series MLB The Show to PC, following the appearance of a new job listing seeking a Senior Graphics Programmer to “develop and optimize real-time graphics systems specifically for PC.”
The listing, which mentions work on an “AAA PC title,” has fueled speculation that MLB The Show 25 or a future entry in the series could become the next PlayStation exclusive to reach desktops and laptops. “Some PC owners dream of a day when all first-party Sony IPs become cross-platform games,” the listing summary noted, echoing ongoing conversations about Sony’s evolving platform strategy.
San Diego Studio, best known for developing MLB The Show since 2006, has already seen its flagship franchise expand to Xbox and Nintendo Switch in recent years. MLB The Show 21 was the first title to go cross-platform after pressure from Major League Baseball, marking a major shift in Sony’s publishing approach. While MLB The Show 25 is already available on Microsoft’s consoles, a PC version would mark another milestone in the franchise’s expansion.
Sony’s gradual move toward multi-platform releases has accelerated, with titles like Helldivers 2 now available on Xbox. Analysts see the trend as part of a broader effort to grow revenue through live service games and microtransactions, an area where MLB The Show already thrives. The franchise’s popular Diamond Dynasty mode encourages players to buy virtual “stubs” to upgrade fantasy teams—potentially a lucrative opportunity on PC despite a smaller player base.
While Sony has not confirmed any PC ports beyond Helldivers 2, speculation continues over other PlayStation exclusives such as Gran Turismo 7. For now, the job listing offers the clearest sign yet that MLB The Show could soon make its long-awaited debut on PC, further blurring the lines between console exclusivity and cross-platform accessibility.
