A team of modders has reimagined Bethesda’s Starfield as an expansive Star Wars role-playing game, offering fans a free way to explore the galaxy while waiting for the next official title in the franchise.
Called Star Wars Genesis, the project by the DeityVengy modding team replaces most of Starfield’s original assets with content inspired by the sci-fi saga, including its Shattered Space expansion. “Our goal was to turn Starfield into a massive open-world RPG set in the Star Wars universe,” the developers said.
Players can visit planets such as Tatooine, Coruscant and Nar Shaddaa, equip era-specific outfits and weapons, and align themselves with factions including the Empire or the Rebels. Some gameplay changes also allow the use of Force powers, enabling players to “embody the character you want, while destroying your enemies,” according to the mod’s description.
The project, now at version 8.2, is still in active development. While the mod retains Starfield’s core gameplay systems, the creators acknowledge that the original game’s technical constraints could limit future additions.
The Genesis mod is available for free to anyone who owns Starfield and its Shattered Space DLC. Fans say it provides a near-complete Star Wars experience at no additional cost, though it remains an unofficial creation.
