Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has shared early details about the next major update to Stardew Valley, confirming that version 1.7 is in development and will introduce new content, though a release timeline has yet to be announced.
It has been more than a year since the farming simulation game received its last major update, version 1.6, and fans have increasingly turned to social media to ask about future plans. Barone, who is known for regularly engaging with the community, responded to a fan request on X by offering a brief preview of what players can expect.
According to Barone, the upcoming update will expand the game’s social systems, adding more character interactions and new social elements. He also confirmed that version 1.7 will include a new farm type, continuing a pattern seen in previous major updates. “Major updates have traditionally come with a new farm,” Barone said, adding that the next release would follow that approach.
Beyond those features, Barone suggested that additional content is planned but stopped short of providing specifics. He indicated that the social changes and new farm represent only part of the update, describing the overall scope as larger than what has been publicly revealed so far.

The ongoing development of Stardew Valley, nearly a decade after its original release, stands out in the games industry, particularly as Barone is also working on a separate project, Haunted Chocolatier. However, he has not provided a release date for version 1.7, leaving fans to wait for further updates.
