Tern has introduced the fourth generation of its Vektron electric bike series in the United States, adding two new folding models aimed at urban commuters. The lineup includes the Vektron P10 and the Vektron P5i, both built around a hydroformed aluminum frame and equipped with Bosch’s Performance Line mid-drive motor.

The company said the new generation maintains a focus on portability and performance, pairing a foldable 6061-AL frame with a matching hydroformed Tern Tarsus fork. In its announcement, Tern highlighted the shared powertrain, noting that “both models come with a Bosch Performance Line mid-drive motor with a top speed of 20 mph (32.1 km/h).” Each bike also carries a Bosch PowerPack 500 Wh battery, which is rated for a maximum range of up to 88 miles (141.6 km) depending on conditions.

Differences between the two models lie in drivetrain configuration. The Vektron P10 features a Shimano Deore 10-speed system, while the Vektron P5i uses a Gates Carbon belt drive paired with a Shimano Nexus 5-speed internal hub. The P5i weighs about 21.4 kg, slightly heavier than the P10 at 20 kg, though both support a payload of up to 125 kg.

Both e-bikes are certified under UL 2849 and EN 15194 standards and come equipped with Magura MT4 hydraulic disc brakes, an adjustable cockpit, a Bosch Purion display and integrated front and rear lighting. An Atlas V rear rack supports up to 27 kg of cargo, targeting riders who use their bikes for daily transport.
