Apple is preparing to launch the latest generation of iPhone 14 series phones as well as Watch Series 8 models next month at a launch event. The company is also expected to launch a new iPad model a month later, in October this year in a separate event.
Among the iPad models that Apple is expected to launch in the coming months, there will be a new version or 10th generation of the entry-level iPad, which is rumored to come with significant design changes.
Now, a new report coming from DigiTimes claims that the 10th generation iPad has entered the mass production phase. Apart from confirming the redesign of the device, it also adds that the tablet will now be powered by the Apple A14 chipset.
Not many details have been confirmed about the upcoming iPad. However, there are rumors suggesting that the tablet will feature a slightly larger 10.5-inch display as well as thinner bezels around the display.
The upcoming entry-level iPad is said to have a flat-edge body and a camera bump on the back panel. The device will also still have a Home button with Touch ID integrated into it, but some image renders suggest that Apple will be eliminating the headphone jack.
Some reports also suggest that device production could be affected due to temporary power restrictions imposed by the Chinese government on factories in Sichuan province.
The 9th generation iPad features a 10.2-inch display and is powered by Apple’s proprietary A13 Bionic chip. There’s a 12 MP front camera with support for the Center Stage feature, and it also has support for the first-generation Apple Pencil. The tablet is offered in Space Gray and Silver with prices starting at USD 329.
