The Precinct, a top-down sandbox police simulator developed by Fallen Tree Games, has been granted Steam Deck Verified status just days after its release, signaling its full compatibility with Valve’s handheld gaming platform.

Set in the gritty, fictional streets of Averno City in 1983, the game places players in the shoes of rookie officer Nick Cordell Jr., tasked with investigating procedurally generated crimes while navigating a city shaped by dynamic weather, traffic, and day-night cycles.

The Steam Deck Verified label indicates that The Precinct meets Valve’s requirements for controller input, display scaling, and interface usability on the handheld device. The game’s early certification underscores its technical stability and accessibility on portable hardware — key for a sandbox title with real-time elements and procedural systems.

“The Precinct blends high-speed pursuits and authentic patrol mechanics with a retro visual flair that evokes classic crime games,” said a spokesperson from Fallen Tree Games.

At the time of reporting, the game holds a ‘Very Positive’ user rating on Steam, suggesting early approval from the player community.

The swift verification also reinforces the game’s appeal to a broader audience seeking immersive, on-the-go gameplay. With support for handheld controls and interface navigation confirmed, players can patrol the city streets from virtually anywhere — whether docked at a desk or on the move.
