It turns out oh it turns out, fulfilling their promise, the upgrade will be available before the end of 2022.
The next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming on December 14th, free for everyone who already owns the game.

This upgrade will be available free of charge for gamers who already have previous versions of the platform, even for the PC version. CD Projekt Red will also showcase its first gameplay next week.
